Happy Wheels has been released just as the tragic and blasphemous death of Flash technology approaches. That was a close call! We apologize for any inconvenience caused. We hope the anxiety over losing Happy Wheels hasn’t kept you from getting a good night’s sleep. If you weren’t aware that a new version was in development, here’s some exciting news for you. Since this is the game’s first public release, please bear with us as we continue to address any remaining bugs.
While I still favor Flash, what I particularly appreciate about this version is its excellent performance on mobile devices. However, at this stage, it does not include on-screen controls for mobile gameplay—that feature will be added in the next update. Thank you for your patience. If you’re eager to try it on your phone right now, a Bluetooth keyboard works perfectly.
Although I previously mentioned that the game runs at 60 frames per second, some of the more challenging levels may run a bit slower at that frame rate. That said, this setting is adjustable, and I might host a separate version optimized for 60 Hz for users with high-performance CPUs. Overall, Happy Wheels JS aims to faithfully replicate the original experience in both design and gameplay. The database of users, levels, and replays remains unchanged from the original release. The only thing lost is the imminent end of the universe.
