Huggy Wuggy was originally created by Playtime CO. to be a lovable toy for children. It quickly became the company’s most successful product. However, prior to the events of the game, he was secretly modified—his original human conscience was transferred into his body, but the transfer was corrupted, turning him into a monstrous creature.
His first appearance in the game shows him posing as a statue to deceive the protagonist. Once the player retrieves a key and restores power in a room that requires it, Huggy Wuggy dismounts from his pedestal. Throughout the game, he stalks the player from vents and high, unreachable spots. Only when the player ventures into the dark will Huggy Wuggy emerge from the shadows, chasing them through the conveyor belt tunnels.
If the player fails to reach the end of the conveyor belt’s catwalk, Huggy Wuggy will grab and kill them with his teeth. However, if the player reaches the catwalk, they can push a box to block Huggy Wuggy and then destroy him, causing both of them to fall. If the player survives, Huggy Wuggy falls into the void after hitting some pipes. It remains unknown whether he survived or was killed in the fall.
